Zahid Faruki

Principal Trainer

Zahid has over 25 years of banking experience working with multinational brand names, including American Express Bank Ltd, Bank of America and Visa, Inc.

For the main part of his career, he was the Chief Credit Officer, Asia for American Express Bank Ltd. He had primary responsibility for the approval, management and control of the Wholesale, Private Banking & Treasury credit portfolio in the region, encompassing 21 active countries. With a team of credit professionals, diverse risk assets were managed through periods of significant stress, e.g. Asian financial crises and SARS events. Subsequently, he was at Visa Inc. as the Head of Credit Risk for Asia.

In addition to consultancy and training, Zahid had established and was the Fund Manager of a Cross-asset Commodity Arbitrage Hedge Fund, Lancing Liquid Relative Value Fund in Singapore.

Since 2010, he has been involved in consulting on all aspects of Corporate & Investment Banking — providing extensive training across MENA & APAC region. Courses delivered over 800 training days include Corporate Credit Analysis, Financial Statement Analysis, and Corporate Finance to Commodity Finance. Training provided independently and on behalf of global training companies like Fitch Learning, Financial Training Partners and Singapore Management University.

Having consulted with major multinational banks and large regional banks, he can successfully engage participants at all levels, from graduates to experienced senior management, across different cultures. He has also delivered courses on behalf of Country Banking Institutes. Training has been conducted in diverse locations globally.
